Adventure to the Madidi National Park, a haven for Amazonian wildlife harbouring over 1,000 species of bird, as well as being home to jaguars, ocelots, tapirs and capybaras. Venture through lush jungles with guides pointing out the exotic creatures lurking in the treetops, there are even nocturnal hikes to experience the forest when most of its wild inhabitants are most active!
Bike along the world’s most dangerous road linking La Paz with Coroico, the rough and narrow tracks chiselled out of near-vertical mountainsides are not for the faint hearted, but for those brave enough, you are rewarded with some of the most awe-inspiring and scenic road in the world. Starting amongst ice-bound peaks, it plunges through clouds into the humid valleys before winding through deep, narrow gorges surrounded by stunning forests.
Venture to the otherworldly Atacama Desert, the driest place on earth with so few microorganisms in the soil, its conditions are most like those on Mars which is why its where Nasa trains astronauts for their missions to the red planet. With many geysers and geothermal system vents, walking around at sunset can feel like an alien planet!
