A haven for wildlife, Sri Lanka is one of the best places in the world to see elephants up close in the wild. The Uda Walawe National Park is home to over 600 elephants, roaming the parks grasslands and forests in packs of up to 50. The Elephant Transit Home is a foundation also based here, focusing on feeding and rehabilitating orphaned baby elephants before being realised back in the wild. Elephants are not the only attraction here, with the national park also being home to leopards, wild buffalo and fabulous birdwatching opportunities.
