Namibia - In Search of the Black Rhino
Home to the worlds oldest desert, Namibia is famous for its wide open spaces and untouched wilderness. Driving yourself is the most popular way to explore the spectacular landscapes and unique wildlife.
Marvel in the beauty of the desert at Sossusvlei, with its dunes rising over 300m tall and a hue which is hard to replicate. Often the main attraction to Namibia, it is a natural wonder that can only truly be appreciated once experienced.
Home to the Etosha National Park, Namibia is not short of wildlife, with a wealth of animals including the rare black rhino, it is an animal lovers dream. Elephants, lions and leopards flock to the enormous watering hole during the dry season, making it the perfect place for an authentic safari. Surrounding a 75 mile long salt pan, the Etosha National Park has luxurious, boutique lodges in abundance, providing a relaxing refuge your self-drive adventure.
Visit the Okonjima Nature Reserve which is known for frequent spots of leopards, brown hyenas and pangolins. It is also home to the Africat Foundation, a non-profit helping to conserve Namibia’s wildlife in their natural habitat.
Listen for the barking, smell the odour, you’ve reached the world’s largest breeding colony of Cape fur seals at Cape Cross Seal Reserve. In peak season, numbers can reach over 200,000. Watch them laze over the beach and rocks (and each other!) or frolicking in the waves, but you may need a bandana to cover your nose!
